Faith is intended to give us the wisdom and power to walk through life's hardest times, not just to get rid of those times. Hard times are the canvas upon which God paints a life purpose of victory.God's purpose for life's trials can bring us into our finest hour. But we need to learn to let Him make us before He will send us. The trial is never about the trial. By faith we learn to find something worth dying for, and then we will have found something worth living for.

War and disease would take two of her children, but a hundred years later, the ripples that this powerful little woman made are still felt and seen in the pool of people's lives from Finland to Florida, South America to Northern Minnesota, and Wisconsin to Washington. The faith that my grandmother had shined through eyes of joy in her fading, bedridden years. Just think what God can do through you if you just trust Him!

Facing down a Russian gang every night on their turf was not what the brochure said would happen when we took our team to a small city south of Moscow. They were racist, violent, and enjoyed entertaining themselves by making our crusade as hard as possible. We knew what they could do, but they had no idea what we could do.

The Russian soldier felt forsaken by his country. "Does your country take care of its veterans? Mine doesn't!" On previous trips to his country, I've had the privilege of dining with some high ranking military. One was a Christian who had been shot down in Afghanistan and was the sole survivor. Yet here he was, being picked up by our old broken down bus and taking the time to provide a banquet for us! Life humbles us, yet God's best often lies down the pathway of injustice.

We were having a fruitful tent crusade in downtown Brownsville when the city suddenly shut us down. Where we relocated, not a soul showed up, yet God had a valuable lesson in it all.

"I've got some bad news." I called from a phone booth in Arkansas, only to hear my dad say that he had terminal cancer. As circumstances would have it, he died alone. But the journey towards that day was one of life, of healing, and of undying principles. I would have to tell him, "You taught me how to live. Now I need you to show me how to die." Facing reality head on allows God to show up and turn our worst temporary moments into eternity's best rewards.

When I was in Israel, I wasn't interested in the religious tourist sites like most people. I kept being reminded of why God led Israel to a desolate time in the wilderness and why that first generation failed. Today, I see America making the same mistakes they did. Our nation has yet to realize why things are coming apart at the seams.
